Aftercare for Face, Neck, Shoulder & TMJ Massage

Dear one,
Now that you’ve received this soothing touch, your body may feel lighter, softer, or more open. The following aftercare is offered gently — not as rules, but as invitations to support your continued relaxation and healing.

Stay Gently Hydrated

  • Sip on water throughout the day, preferably room temperature or warm herbal teas.
Your body is rebalancing, and water helps ease that flow.

  • If possible, avoid caffeine or alcohol until tomorrow, so your system can stay calm and clear.

Move Softly

  • Let your body move in natural, easy ways. Gentle stretches or simply lying down with awareness can help your muscles settle.

  • Keep your jaw relaxed — notice if it tenses, and allow it to soften. Eating softer foods for the next few meals may feel comforting.

Create a Soft Landing

  • If you can, give yourself time after your session without rushing — even a few quiet minutes can make a difference.

  • Warmth helps. Wrap a scarf around your neck and shoulders, or rest with a light blanket.

  • Avoid screens and stimulation for a little while, letting your nervous system remain in rest.

Tend to Your Skin

  • If facial oils or balms were used, consider letting them stay on your skin — they are nourishing and gentle.

  • Skip makeup for the rest of the day if you can, to allow your skin to breathe and glow naturally.

Emotional Softness

  • Massage can stir feelings stored in the body. If anything arises — tenderness, tiredness, emotion — meet it with kindness.

  • You might feel more open or sensitive. Take things slowly. Quiet time, or simply being in nature can help integrate the experience.

At-Home Support

  • If your jaw or neck feels a bit tender later, a warm compress can feel lovely.

  • If you’ve been given jaw relaxation exercises or breathwork, today is a good day to do them softly.

  • When you sleep, rest on your back or with support under your neck to help keep alignment gentle.

A Loving Reminder

You gave your body the gift of care today. Let that kindness continue — in how you speak to yourself, how you move, and how you rest.

If you'd like support between sessions, I’m here for you.
